Roseburg police arrested a man Monday night for parole violation and third-degree escape.

An RPD report states that at 7:20 p.m., an officer contacted the 39-year-old at Fir Grove Park in the 1300 block of West Harvard Avenue after a caller reported a physical altercation in the area. Officers determined the man was involved in the incident and notified dispatch that he was on probation. His probation officer authorized a detention.

The suspect was told he was under arrest, but he would not cooperate. He was detained with a taser, warned he would be tasered, and again told he was under arrest. The man allegedly continued to not cooperate and then ran from the officer. The officer chased the man, deployed a taser, and took him to the ground, but the connection to the taser was cut. The suspect got up and continued to run. He was arrested by officers a short time later. Bail was set at $6,250.
