Man dies in scooter accident with off-road vehicle

SEABROOK – Police say a local man died Saturday in an accident when his scooter crashed in the area of ​​the railroad bridge on Walton Road.

According to Seabrook Police, Alwin Eaton, 57, of Seabrook was riding his scooter around 4:30 p.m. when two SUVs crossed the road, causing Eaton to lose control and crash.

According to police, investigators determined Eaton was traveling east on Walton Road when the SUVs appeared. The drivers of those vehicles are suspected of causing the crash.

According to police, Eaton was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said they had identified the drivers of the SUVs and the case was still under investigation.

Seabrook Police Chief Brett Walker said that when using off-highway recreational vehicles (OHRVs), one must “be familiar with the laws that govern their operation in this state. Operators must know where they can legally operate their vehicles, and they must operate their vehicles safely for themselves and other road users.”
