Max Holloway plans to surpass KO fight at UFC 300

Former featherweight champion Max Holloway has something special in store for UFC 308.

Holloway (26-7 MMA, 22-7 UFC) challenges featherweight champion Ilia Topuria (15-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in the main event on October 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Holloway earned his opportunity after defeating Justin Gaethje by legendary knockout at UFC 300 to capture the BMF title in April, and he plans to put on another memorable performance against Topuria.

“Every fight camp is me versus me,” Holloway said on his YouTube channel. “I have to go out there and outdo myself every fight camp, you know? Everyone thought UFC 300 was great. Just wait until they see the result of UFC 308. It's going to be good.”

In his last 21 featherweight fights, Holloway has only lost to Alexander Volkanovski. However, since he lost to Volkanovski three times, many considered him out of the running to challenge for the featherweight title.

Holloway rebounded from his loss to Volkanovski with wins over Arnold Allen, Chan Sung Jung and Gaethje. Meanwhile, Volkanovski was knocked out by Topuria at UFC 298 in February, giving Holloway another shot at the title – something many doubted.

“I've tried hard to reclaim my throne over the last few years,” Holloway said. “A lot of people have laughed, but we'll see who has the last laugh on October 26.”
