Charles P. Casler, 40, of Philadelphia, was arrested for attempted carjacking in Feasterville.

On August 14th at 4:58 p.m., Lower Southampton Police responded to a report of an attempted carjacking at the intersection of Street Road and Central Avenue in Feasterville. Investigating officers spoke with the victim who was filling up her car at the Sunoco gas station when a man in a red pickup truck pulled up, exited the truck, and entered her car through the driver's door. He closed the door while sitting in the driver's seat and attempted to steal her car. However, the man was unsuccessful as the engine was not running and the victim had the keys/fob on her. He exited the vehicle, pushed past her, and got back into the Ford truck, which he used to flee the area.

During this investigation, the Bucks County Communications Center received calls about an erratic driver operating a red Ford pickup truck matching the description traveling on Bridgetown Pike. Lower Southampton officers searched the area for the vehicle and found it traveling south on Bridgetown Pike. The truck was stopped at the intersection of Elmwood Avenue, where the driver resisted arrest and ran away before being apprehended by officers.

The man was identified as Casler and positively identified by the victim. After arrest, he was found to be under the influence of narcotics and in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. Casler was charged with the following offenses: Attempted Robbery of a Motor Vehicle, Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Disturbing the Peace, Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication, Fleeing Arrest or Detention on Foot, Possession of Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia.

He was arraigned on those charges, bail was set, and he was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility to await his court date. Additional charges may be added as it was later revealed that the Ford pickup truck was reported stolen by the Philadelphia Police Department.
