Kate Winslet plays a doctor in trouble in a Hulu series

“The Spot” is a new psychological drama from Hulu starring Kate Winslet as a troubled surgeon plagued by guilt after an accident.

The spot is a new psychodrama series with Kate Winslet by Hulu with author Ed Solomon2oth Television and A24. You may remember Solomon as the screenwriter behind Men in Black. Oh, The spot will probably have nothing to do with UFOs or aliens. The setting is a little more grounded: When a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her teacher husband suspect she may be responsible for the hit-and-run death of a child, their search for the truth becomes entangled in a web of growing suspicion and dark secrets that tests their resolve and their relationship as they face the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal. And she won't be one of those flashy things from Men in Black to erase her memory, which sucks.

Solomon is the writer, executive producer and showrunner of The spot. In addition to starring, Winslet will also executive produce under her banner Juggle Productions. A24 is the lead studio in the co-production with 20th Television. Winslet has seen her career surge in recent years in offbeat and uncompromising roles, such as the tormented cop in HBO's acclaimed Mare by Easttown and as a self-deceiving, paranoid and narcissistic dictator of a fictional Eastern European country in HBO’s The regime. You might think that many actresses decide later in their careers that they have less to lose by playing characters who are deeply flawed and not always likable, but Kate Winslet has spent her entire career playing flawed women with great success. Her first television role was in Doctor Who Showrunner Russell T. Davies' first television series, Dark season, as a rebellious teenager who helps her school friend fight off an alien threat that wanted to use computers to control the world's minds. She played her first film role in Peter Jackson'S Heavenly creatures, where she played a teenager who commits murder in a fit of romantic delusions. Winslet has never played an ordinary character, and The spot is another chance for them to completely erupt in fear and terror.
