Drug dealer arrested for multiple drug offenses

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (WAFB) – A suspected drug dealer was arrested after a months-long investigation by the East Baton Rouge Drug Enforcement Unit.

35-year-old Jose Carlos Miranda-Morales is charged with

  • Dist. of Sch. II (methamphetamine)
  • PWITD Sch. II (Cocaine)

  • Possession of a firearm with drugs
  • Possibly drug paraphernalia
  • Operating a secret laboratory (meth conversion

According to agents, Morales was identified as a large-scale, multi-drug trafficker operating from Houston to Baton Rouge.

Agents said they were able to conduct a controlled purchase of kilograms of methamphetamine from Morales in Baton Rouge.

Three search warrants were obtained for various locations where Morales was allegedly active, and on Monday, August 26, officers seized numerous narcotics, cash and firearms.

Seized drugs and cash:

  • 6.6 pounds of cocaine (wholesale street value $54,000)
  • 1.8 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 2 ounces of marijuana
  • Kilogram Hydraulic Pharmaceutical Press
  • Digital scale with drug residues
  • $1,546
  • Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol (9 mm)

Because Morales was not legally in the United States, he was taken into custody by U.S. border control, officials added.
