Nigerian film producer and actress Adanma Luke has apologized to the Nigerian woman for the tragic boating accident that killed actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, and four other crew members on their way to their film set in April 2024.

In a video she posted on Instagram on Monday, Luke, the film’s producer, said The other side of lifeshared how deeply sorry she is and that she is struggling with depression as a result of the incident.

“I'm just here to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry Nigerians. I'm sorry for taking your loved ones away from you as people say. I'm very sad and although I try to be strong, I don't see myself as strong. I'm devastated that this happened on my set and it breaks my heart that they worked for me at that time. I'm not God; this was fate, but why me?”

In her emotional message, she asked for forgiveness and stressed that the accident was not intentional. “We all loved JP, and we all loved the others who lost their lives – my crew members.”

Luke clarified that the boat was just for transportation and was not part of the filming: “We weren't even shooting on the water, it was a means of transportation.” She added that she had asked for a better location and her team told her it was safe.

“It's not that I did this on purpose and I take all the blame. Please Nigerians, I'm sorry. I'm gradually losing my life and sinking into depression. Please forgive me,” she pleaded.
