19-year-old man dies in car crash with dirt bike in Metro Detroit

TAYLOR, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – A 19-year-old man died when his dirt bike collided with a car in Taylor.

The accident occurred on Monday around 7:48 p.m. at the intersection of S. Telegraph Road and I-94.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a man riding a dirt bike that had been reported stolen in Shelby Township violated a red light and collided with a Ford Edge.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the Ford vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and attempted to help the 19-year-old. The teenager was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the accident.
