Aubrey Plaza never saw The White Lotus due to streaming issues on Max

Aubrey Plaza received critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Harper in Season 2 of The White Lotus, despite never watching a single episode. In a video interview for The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the comedian admitted that she has never watched her season of Mike White's popular HBO anthology series because she can't log into her Max account.

“I haven't done it yet, but I will,” Plaza said. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I originally wanted to watch it. I couldn't figure out the password, and I usually just give up when I can't figure out the passwords. I just can't handle things like that.”

“I would like a DVD, but they don't send DVD sets anymore,” Plaza added. “I ask them every time.”

Plaza has long been open about her frustration with streaming platforms, telling Vanity Fair last year that she gets “really angry” when she's forced to use one of those platforms.

“I wanted to watch season 20 of 'Top Chef.' I just couldn't figure out how to get Hulu + Live. I give up! I can't. I just can't,” Plaza said at the time. “And so I like to go on iTunes and buy old movies. Or I'll go on iTunes and just buy the whole 'Sopranos' series, and then my husband says, 'You can literally watch that for free on HBO Max.'”

Plaza said diversity In 2022, she had the opportunity to see the first season of The White Lotus, and her love for Mike White convinced her to accept a role he had written for her in season 2.

“I was a fan of the first season, but more importantly, I was a huge Mike White fan,” Plaza said. “So I'm very excited to be working with him. I'm very honored to be on this television series and I hope I don't disappoint anyone. It seems like everyone has seen this show.”
