Family remembers three-year-old killed in fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – A man and a 3-year-old are dead after a shooting in northeast Indianapolis Monday night.

“I love you, that's all I'm saying – you don't deserve this at all,” Arieon Anderson, Armonie's father, told WRTV on Tuesday. The family says the child just celebrated her third birthday on Monday night.

“Given the time he was here, you could see that drive and see that he could do anything he wanted to do,” Anderson added.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot around 9:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of Shadeland Avenue, the parking lot of a shopping center with several stores, including Dollar Tree. Metro Police said 22-year-old Jaishawn Johnson and 3-year-old Armonie Booker died.

“You must surrender – in the name of Jesus – you must lay down your weapons,” said Michele Anderson, Armonie’s great-grandmother.

The incident is currently still under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Detective Michael Wright in the IMPDHomicide Office at 317.327.3475 or email him at [email protected]
