Deobra Redden, 31, faces nine charges, including attempted murder of a victim aged 60 or older.

During the hearing, Judge Holthus sentenced Redden to prison for attempted assault. As she prepared to announce the verdict, a viral video showed Redden jumping over the judge's bench to attack her.

According to an arrest report, Holthus said Redden pushed her out of her chair and slammed her head against the wall before ripping out some of her hair. The report also said two bailiffs were notified of a panic alarm but were sent to the wrong courtroom.

Since then, his defense team and his family have addressed Redden's mental illness.

They said he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
