Sid Wilson of Slipknot has a simple message for everyone: “Don’t mess with fire. It will win every time.”

Wilson spoke to Fox News Digital by phone after suffering burns to his arms and face over the weekend.

“My whole right arm is bandaged, half of my left arm. My face is basically melted from my nose down. But the swelling has gone down, and they said the face is kind of amazing because it's regenerating, it's happening really quickly, seems to be healing quickly.”

“I've had better days, I guess, but I'm alive, so I'm OK,” he said.

On Saturday, he shared videos on Instagram showing himself in the hospital with an oxygen tube and wires attached to his body, saying he had “an explosion in his face.”

The Slipknot rocker told Fox News Digital that he was working on a wood-burning stove on the Iowa property where he lives with girlfriend Kelly Osbourne and their one-year-old son Sidney when he admitted he made an impulsive decision that led to the injury.

“A few nights ago I lit it and let it burn down. So the next day I went to see how much was left, if anything. And there was a certain amount of rubble left on the side, so like an idiot I [did] which I shouldn't do, but I gave it some gas.”

He continued, noting that he had taken the gas can “far away” from the pile next to an ATV he was using. “And then I looked around for a long branch that was some distance away to light it on, but I couldn't find one right away. So my impatience got the better of me and I thought, screw it. I'll be fine, you know? And I crouched down, reached out and lit it, and it was just, it was really humid outside, so there were a lot of fumes still hanging around in it, and then… boom. It just exploded.”

Wilson said he jumped on his quad bike and “flew” to the house where Osbourne and Sidney were and “just ran into the house and said, 'We have to go!'”

The 47-year-old drove his entire family along the “dirt roads” where he felt safer. He first went to a nearby emergency room before being taken to a larger hospital in Des Moines. There, he admitted, “his memories became blurred” because he was finally given painkillers for his injuries.

“When I finally got to the Hospital in Des Moines, I was able to just let go of what I was holding on to to get through it.”

Wilson added: “When something like that happens, you have to go into a mode where, you know, you get to where you need to be before your body fails.”

Osbourne intervened in the interview and added: “They basically treated the wounds and all this fake scab [stuff] everywhere [his] bodies until they can get to the burn unit and remove the scabs.”

They were then transferred to a burn facility in Iowa City, about two hours from Des Moines.

On Instagram, he shared a quick glimpse of her readjusting his arms, adding the caption, “@kellyosbourne has the Florence Nightingale effect on me” with a smiling emoji surrounded by hearts.

“She is absolutely invaluable. She is incredible,” he told Fox News Digital about his girlfriend of more than two years. “She is here taking care of everything for me. I don't know what I would do if she wasn't here doing this.”

Because his parents are busy, their son Sidney didn't notice what a chaotic weekend the family experienced.

“Fortunately, he's still young enough that he's kind of enjoying the whole thing,” Wilson said.

“I would say I have a pretty positive attitude about it,” he added, and Osbourne chimed in: “Yes, you do!”

“I don't have enough energy, I'm not going to let that depress me. The worst part is I just feel stupid for doing it. That's the worst part. It's not even the physical part. It's like, 'Oh man, I really learned this the hard way.' I have to make sure that sometimes I just slow down and really examine the situation before I dive headfirst into it.”

“I'll be there, man. I always find a way to make it happen,” Wilson told Fox News Digital, recounting that he once completed an entire tour with two broken heels sustained when he jumped onto a concrete stage at the tour's first show.

“And then I finished the show for 45 minutes, on my feet, and then finished the tour in a wheelchair.”

He noted, however, that wearing the band's signature masks and costumes will take some time and that there will be “some minor adjustments.”
