Pay-per-mile changes ‘an attack on freedom’ – full list of affected drivers

Mr Foster told GB News: “A per-mile road tax is quite simply an attack on the freedom and ability to use your own car/van to earn a living, visit relatives or just have fun.”

Experts warn that the introduction of a mile-based system could “disproportionately” affect certain people.

Those living in rural areas without access to public transportation may not be able to reduce their mileage.

Likewise, those who have a long commute to the office will likely face higher costs than those who work from home.

According to the survey, 52.82 percent of road users believe that a new system “would be used as a means of raising taxes.”

Nevertheless, Mr Foster urged road users to protest against pay-per-mile and show how unpopular the changes would be.

He added: “Now that the politics of envy and environmental virtue are being resurrected in Downing Street, they are rising from the political graveyard to reach out to the working people of Britain. But those same voters can fight back.

“The campaign during the Uxbridge by-election quickly made clear how popular Sadiq Khan's ULEZ tax was with many voters who Labour was sure would support it.”
