Due to a domestic incident in West Virginia, PSP finds $1,000 worth of burned clothing outside Mercersburg

August 28, 2024 – A domestic incident seems to be going from bad to worse as a Greencastle woman is facing burglary and more charges following an alleged incident in June of this year. Chasitie Louise Bigham is charged with aggravated burglary, trespassing and criminal damage to property. Bigham is free and awaiting her next court date after being placed on a $50,000 unsecured bail.

Pennsylvania State Police were called to a home on Ditto Road in Montgomery Township on June 15 after it had apparently been burglarized. Officers met with the homeowner shortly after midnight, when it was already June 16. The victim reportedly “contacted Chasitie Bigham on his property and told her to leave.” Bigham had previously been instructed by PSP not to enter the property for any reason, but it appears she ignored that request.

The victim told PSP that Bigham entered the home through an unlocked exterior door and took all of his clothing and shoes from the home. A damaged flat screen television was also found on the floor nearby. Cops also say a cigarette was stubbed out on the bed nearby.

In the back of the house, police found a pile of ashes that appeared to contain steel-toed boots and clothing. Near the ashes were a small gas canister and an unburned pair of pants. These caps and the unburned clothing were among the items missing from the victim's house.

PSP contacted West Virginia State Police shortly thereafter because it was determined that the victim in the PA case and Bigham were involved in a domestic assault on the same day in Falling Waters, WV. The victim allegedly struck Bigham, who allegedly retaliated by burning clothing.

Bigham was questioned at home the next day. There, she initially denied that the clothes had been burned and that his television had been damaged. However, after further conversation, Bigham told police officers, “I bought all the clothes anyway” and “If the door isn't locked, it's not a burglary.”

In total, according to PSP, Bigham burned about $1,000 worth of clothing and shoes and damaged a television valued at $200.

Chasitie Bigham remains at large and awaits her next court date on September 10.
