23-year-old Wichita man arrested for murder of man found in trunk

WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – Wichita Police announced the arrest of a 23-year-old Wichita man in the murder of Kyce Barnes, who was found dead in the trunk of a car last week.

Barnes, 39, was found last Wednesday with numerous gunshot wounds and lying in blood-stained bedding in the trunk of a four-door Mercedes. Police said the shooting occurred in the 8400 block of West Kellogg.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released by police but who Sedgwick County police records indicate is Daitrez Birch, was arrested in the 1800 block of North Hillside.
