Previously unreleased footage of the famous David Bowie tour released

Previously unreleased footage of David Bowie's performance on the famous Ziggy Stardust tour has been released for the first time.

The footage you can see below shows David Bowie performing 'Starman' from this legendary tour.

Previously, footage of the late singer during a television appearance as Ziggy Stardust was shared, which was thought to be lost after almost half a century.

In this clip, Bowie also made his debut as his new and iconic character ITV's Take off with Ayshea. It also took place a month before his incredible performance at Top of the Pops.

Recordings of David Bowie As 'Ziggy Stardust'

Initially, there were fears that this footage would be lost forever because it was not saved by the broadcaster.

However, a viewer managed to record this performance and found it on a computer tape five years ago. It was later shown in the BBC documentary. David Bowie: The first five years – On the road to fame.

Now new footage from that time has been released to fans for the first time.

From the pen of the deceased singer 'Ziggy Stardust' UK tour of 1972 and 1973. This tour was also filmed by Mick Rock, David Bowie's late collaborator and photographer.

These clips were released by Parlophone Records to celebrate the first Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio version of Bowie's album. “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars”.

This new mix will be released on Blu-Ray Audio on September 6th and can be pre-ordered here.

This abstract artwork was painted in 2014 and was previously only partially visible in the background of a series of Bowie portraits by photographer Jimmy King.
