Manitowoc police seize material used to manufacture potential drugs

Manitowoc police seized materials in a residential home that could be used to manufacture drugs.

LT. Cooper Schmidt told Seehafer News that the city's Department of Inspection was conducting a routine inspection of a vacant home in the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue on Tuesday when they found a suspicious item.

They called the Metro Drug Unit, which believed the item was a “vessel for the production of controlled substances” and may have contained dangerous substances.

The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation – Clandestine Laboratory Response Team (DCI) was contacted and responded.

Due to the flammability of the chemicals used in the manufacture of controlled substances, Manitowoc Fire and Emergency Services were on standby throughout the investigation.

DCI has safely collected the vessel and removed it from the area.
