Robert Shepherd arrested in custody

MADISON CO., Alabama (WAFF) – A Madison County man awaiting trial for a 2022 shooting that left one person dead and two others injured was arrested Thursday.

Authorities said Robert Shepherd was arrested and charged with attempted innuendo.

Because he was released on bail, he will not be allowed to leave prison until his trial begins.

Court records also show Shepherd's probation was suspended. According to the documents, he was a passenger during a traffic stop in Huntsville on August 15. During the stop, officers found marijuana and a firearm, which violated his bail agreement.

In addition to his attempt to evade prosecution, Shepherd is also charged with first-degree murder and two counts of assault.

These charges stem from a shooting in Toney in 2022. Investigators said officers were called to a home on Spirit Drive for a shooting. Officers found three men with gunshot wounds.

Only two of the victims survived the shooting.

The following week, Shepherd turned himself in to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

He was later released from the Madison County Jail on August 22, 2024.

A judge has not yet set a trial date for Shepherd.
