Man found shot dead in Birmingham; investigation ongoing

An investigation is ongoing after a man was found shot dead in west Birmingham on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a person in the 2900 block of Avenue F.

The man was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services, Officer Truman Fitzgerald said.

The death initially appeared to be confidential, but when the Jefferson County Coroner's Office arrived on the scene, they determined that he had been shot.
