A non-fatal shooting defendant facing 29 counts related to an incident received a new trial date during a court hearing before Baltimore District Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Aug. 28.

Sean Cherry, 21, is charged with attempted premeditated and gross murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and discharge of a firearm, as well as several other charges in connection with a non-fatal shooting on September 16, 2023.

Cherry was offered a deal in May that would have given him a 60-year prison sentence with all but 45 years suspended and would have registered as a firearms offender if he pleaded guilty to several charges, including attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. However, he rejected the offer.

The prosecution said it would need three days for the hearing, which was originally scheduled for August 26. Cherry, who attended the session via Zoom while in custody, was represented by Christopher O'Meara.

Judge Copeland set a new trial date for November 1, before Judge Alan C. Lazerow.
