16-year-old girl shot in road rage incident: Hillsborough Sheriff

TAMPA, FL — An arrest has been made in connection with the DUI shooting that injured a 16-year-old girl in Hillsborough County, officials said.

Rasool Kakeem, 37, admitted to firing his gun twice during the incident Thursday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

He was charged with two counts of attempted murder with a firearm causing great bodily injury in the second degree and one count of shooting at or into a vehicle.

The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. on South Falkenburg Road when Kakeem fired at another vehicle during an argument, the sheriff's office said.

One of the bullets hit the young girl. Both drivers were uninjured in the incident.

“Firing his weapon at another vehicle is simply reckless,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This suspect had no regard for human life during this completely avoidable interaction.”
