Joan is a 61-year-old private school administrator who is looking for love after the death of her husband John from pancreatic cancer in 2021. She is a mother of four children and has one grandchild. According to her ABC bio, she describes herself as a “loving mother and hard worker who would love to find someone to enjoy life with.” So who is the lucky man that many fans are already hoping Joan will end up with?

The Golden Bachelorette Contestant Guy Gansert is a 66-year-old emergency room physician living in Reno, Nevada. He has four children and one grandchild – exactly as many as Joan's family!

Guy's ex-wife is Nevada Republican politician Heidi Gansert, who has served in the Nevada Senate since 2016. She announced in 2023 that she would not run for re-election and is retiring to spend more time with her four children.

It is unclear when they divorced, but a 2017 profile of Heidi in Nevada Independent announced that they had been married for over 30 years.

According to his ABC biography, Guy has “spent nearly 40 years helping others as a doctor, and he's excited about the opportunity to meet someone he can spend the rest of his life with.” He is described as “charismatic, confident and romantic” and wants to find love with a woman who is “intelligent and witty.”

“Guy does NOT fit the 'grumpy old man' stereotype and knows he has a long way to live,” his biography states. “He believes strongly in chivalry and wants to make Joan feel special.”

Fun bio facts include that he wants to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this fall, is a huge Beatles fan, and dreams of the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl—according to his Facebook page, Guy is originally from Arlington, Texas.

After it was announced that he would be joining the cast of The Golden BacheloretteGuy raved about the “completely unexpected transformational journey” he experienced in a Facebook post on August 27.
