Man identified after fatal shooting Friday night in southeast Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – The man who died in a shooting in southeast Colorado Springs Friday night has been identified.

According to the El Paso County Coroner's Office, the suspect was 43-year-old Eduardo Maldonado.

According to CSPD, this is the 28th murder in Colorado Springs this year. Last year, there were 21 murders at this time.

Background information

The shooting occurred shortly before midnight in the 2600 block of Delta Drive, near the intersection of Hancock Expressway and Astrozan Boulevard.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man, later identified as Maldonado, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later died from his injuries.

According to CSPD, the fatal shooting is being investigated as a homicide and the investigation is ongoing.
