Tennessee prison warden charged with having sex with inmate

A former warden of the Dickson County Jail is facing multiple felony charges after a recent investigation revealed that he allegedly had sexual intercourse with an inmate last year.

At the request of 23rd Judicial District Attorney General Ray Crouch, special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Calvin Wayne Lewis, a press release said.

During their investigation, agents discovered that Lewis, 41, had sexual contact with an inmate at the Dickson County Jail on November 1, 2023, while working as a guard there.

No further details were released about the alleged encounter between Lewis and the inmate.

A Dickson County grand jury indicted Lewis on August 22. He is accused of three counts of sexual contact with an inmate, the press release said.

Lewis was arrested and placed in the Dickson County Jail on $25,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Dickson County District Court at 9 a.m. on September 9 to face the charges.
