Chase ends with accident in Skowhegan district

SKOWHEGAN, Maine (WABI) – Five minors were hospitalized after a Waterville police chase through three towns ended in a crash Wednesday morning.

According to the Morning Sentinel, the chase began when Waterville police attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Gardiner on Monday evening.

Officers pursued the vehicle through the city, reaching Oakland and eventually Skowhegan.

The chase ended when the driver lost control of his vehicle and it overturned at the corner of West Front and Alder Streets in Skowhegan around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The publication reports that there were five minors in the vehicle at the time, all of whom were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Authorities believe four of them left the hospital around noon on Wednesday.
