Robbery suspect stabbed to death during Auburn Gresham gas station robbery

A man was killed after an attempted robbery at a gas station in Auburn Gresham on Wednesday morning.

A 36-year-old man was inside a gas station in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street around 11:15 a.m. when two men entered, grabbed him by the hair and demanded his personal belongings, Chicago police said.

The man pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the attackers, a 38-year-old man, in the neck, police said. A second robber, 20, then pulled out a gun and punched the 36-year-old in the face.

The victim ran away from the gas station and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with blunt force trauma to the face, police said. He was in good condition.

The two attackers also fled the gas station, but were arrested by the police.

The stabbed man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No other injuries were reported and a weapon was found at the gas station, police said.
