Police in Arlington investigate several robberies

Arlington County Police have been dealing with a series of robberies in recent days.

• On Aug. 25 at 6:17 p.m., a man entered a store and allegedly began tampering with merchandise, Arlington police said.

During the incident, he was confronted by an employee, police said. The suspect then attempted to leave the store with the merchandise without paying, whereupon the employee confronted him again, police said.

The suspect allegedly made threats to the employee before leaving the store, police said.

No injuries were reported.

A wanted notice was sent out and officers who responded found a person matching the suspect's description in the area and took him into custody.

The suspect, 26-year-old Alusine Tiafoh of Greenbelt, was arrested, charged with robbery and held without bail.

• On Aug. 25 at 2:33 p.m., two men entered a store, began hiding merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying, Arlington police said.

An employee confronted the suspects outside the store, with one of the suspects attacking the employee before both fled the scene, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspects are described as black men.

• On Aug. 27 at 6:11 p.m., a woman entered a store in the 1200 block of South Hayes Street, allegedly took merchandise and left the store without paying, Arlington police said.

Anti-theft employees confronted the suspect outside the store, and while attempting to arrest her, the suspect struck the staff, police said.

A struggle ensued and an officer arrived. During the struggle, the suspect was uncooperative and attempted to flee the scene, police said.

The suspect was subsequently taken into custody, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect, 18-year-old Zaira Lowe of the District of Columbia, was arrested and charged with robbery and obstruction of justice.
