What happened to Sasuke in Boruto? Explained

Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 13 has been released and contains some flashbacks that refer to the tragic fate of Sasuke Uchiha.

The Boruto Manga series is a spinoff and sequel to Narutowhich focuses on Naruto Uzumaki's son Boruto. Although the series mainly focuses on the next generation of shinobi, Sasuke also plays an important role in the series. As one of the last surviving members of the Uchiha clan with the inherited Sharingan ability, Sasuke is undoubtedly one of the most powerful ninjas in the world. Naruto Franchise. The two decide to lay low, train, and come back stronger than before, especially since Sasuke was significantly weakened and had lost his Rinnegan. Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes begins three years after Boruto and Sasuke's departure. However, Sasuke is nowhere to be seen in the first three issues, as Boruto fights Code alone to protect the village.

Readers immediately suspected that something had happened to Sasuke, as he would never abandon Boruto and let him protect the village alone. Finally, issue 4, “The Awakening,” revealed his tragic fate. At some point during the time skip, Sasuke was confronted by Code and his army of humanoid Claw Grimes summoned from the Ten-Tails. The Claw Grimes are attracted to chakra, which they consume to evolve. When a Claw Grime bites someone, they lose their chakra and sprout branches that eventually become trapped in a tree.

In “The Awakening,” it is confirmed that Sasuke met this fate during the time skip when Boruto is transported to his location. He sees that Sasuke is almost completely trapped in a tree and unconscious. Although he doesn't know how to free him from the tree, Boruto vows to save him. In the final chapter, readers are given flashbacks showing what happened during the time skip immediately after Sasuke was knocked out. As the manga continues to explore the skipped time, it is important that readers remember Sasuke's fate.

While it's disappointing that Sasuke wasn't able to focus more on Boruto and the next generation, his imprisonment in the tree is a plot point that will likely be explored further and possibly still resolved.
