Grizzlies All-Star reveals unexpected reason for trouble with FBI

There are few things in life worse than an unexpected call from the FBI. That's a moment that Memphis Grizzlies All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. actually experienced at a young age.

In an episode of the podcast “The Old Man and The Three,” Jackson revealed that he had an encounter with the FBI before joining the NBA. At first, Jackson thought his father was playing a prank on him.

“I wasn't searched by the FBI,” Jackson said. “It's not bullshit, I just downloaded some stuff… They called my dad, they called him a little bit and I don't think he knew who it was so he didn't respond until three days later… I don't think he gave me the full consequence because he just told me to stop. I stopped because I was totally freaking out.”

The show that specifically got Jackson in trouble with the FBI was the second season of The Boondocks. When he was caught downloading that show, his entire download history was exposed.

“It was probably like season 2 of The Boondocks, I had the whole series,” Jackson said. “You can tag your files, so they tagged them and tracked the files on my computer. Once they have them, they can see everything I have, where it is. They can see all the seasons of everything.”

Although Jaren Jackson Jr. can laugh about the experience today, it definitely became a central memory that frightened him during his youth.
