Erin Larsen, yoga healer and teacher from West Virginia, dies after car accident

Yoga healer and teacher Erin Larsen from Fayetteville, West Virginia, was killed in a car accident in Virginia.

Larsen was involved in an accident near Blacksburg, VA, on the evening of August 27. She suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident and was taken to the hospital.

Tragically, she died in hospital early Wednesday, August 28, surrounded by her loved ones, including her loving husband, brother and family.

News of Larsen’s death was shared on social media by her brother Christopher, who said: “Friends, my dear sister Erin Larsen was in a terrible accident yesterday outside of Blacksburg, VA. Unfortunately, the trauma was too great and she passed away early this morning surrounded by her loving husband, brother and family. She will be greatly missed.”

Erin Larsen was a certified yoga teacher, Thai Bodywork Practitioner and Holistic Health Coach, according to her website. She offered workshops, trainings and retreats from her home studio in Fayetteville, West Virginia, with a focus on Somatic Movement and Thai Yoga Bodywork.

She also organized occasional trips to Thailand to learn about the country's rich history and culture and to learn new yoga techniques.

Larsen, originally from Severna Park, Maryland, received her education at Virginia Techand graduated with two science degrees, one in biology and one in food, nutrition and exercise science.

Erin is married and lives in Fayetteville, West Virginia with her husband and dog, Osa. She works out of her home studio above her garage. In addition to yoga, her passions include mountain biking, hiking, cooking, and gardening.

Other yoga teachers and clients described her impact on their lives as incredible.

“She was a beautiful person inside and out and her light shone so brightly. She lived her life in a way that makes you want to be a better person. I am grateful to have called her my friend and spent time with her.” said a colleague, Aimee LaRue, about Larsen.
