Man chases and stabs victim during backyard fight, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis police have arrested and charged a man accused of stabbing a victim during a backyard fight.

On August 27, officers responded to an aggravated assault call from a private residence on McLemore Avenue.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the suspect, Alfred Ivery, who told them that a physical altercation had occurred between him and the male victim.

According to the affidavit, Ivery got into a verbal argument with a neighborhood resident that led to a physical altercation in the yard.

According to MPD, when Ivery arrived home, the victim began knocking on his door and demanding that he come back outside. Ivery then grabbed a knife, went back outside and began chasing the victim.

The affidavit states that Ivery stabbed the victim in the stomach.

After the stabbing, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital in non-critical condition for further treatment.

Ivery was taken into police custody and is now charged with grievous bodily harm.
