Emporia police officials have released more details about Tuesday's car and bicycle crash that left injuries present.

Police Capt. Ray Mattas says the incident in the 100 block of West 12th involved a car driven by 20-year-old Angela Marin and a battery-powered bicycle driven by 36-year-old Levi Oakes. Mattas says Marin was traveling west but stopped and waited to turn left into the Kwik Shop parking lot. Oakes was also traveling west but began to pass Marin on the left as the car turned left. Marin did not see Oakes and collided with the bicycle.

Oakes was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Emporia Fire/EMS said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Marin was not injured.

The hometowns of Marin and Oakes were not listed.
