“Davido is still my brother”, Dammy Krane regains his freedom,

Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from police custody almost a week after his arrest for allegedly defaming his colleague Davido.

The controversy started when Dammy Krane accused Davido of being involved in the death of their mutual friend Tagbo and made claims about Davido's personal life, including suggesting that the singer only got married because his fiancée Chioma caught him cheating.

Following these allegations, Davido's legal team asked Dammy Krane to retract his statements within 24 hours and refrain from making further defamatory comments.

Otherwise, they warned, legal action would be taken.

Last week, reports emerged that Dammy Krane had been arrested and could face criminal charges based on his statements.

But in a turn of events, Davido dropped all charges against him, leading to the release of Dammy Krane.

In his first public statement since his release, Dammy Krane thanked his friend Very Dark Man (VDM) and admitted to having made statements he regretted.

He explicitly apologised for the allegations surrounding Tagbo’s death and reiterated that Davido was still his brother despite their differences.

In a video shared online, Dammy Krane said:

I want to say a big thank you to my brother, Very Dark Man. I know you all were not expecting this. I know there were a lot of words that shouldn't have been said, I apologize for this allegation of Tagbo's death and all that. Remember Davido is still my brother and we will find a big ground to clear everything up.
