Cyclist seriously injured in accident in Glendale; road closed

GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) – A man was seriously injured after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle in Glendale early Thursday morning.

Glendale police responded to the crash at approximately 4 a.m. near 51st and Glendale Avenue.

According to police, a man on a bicycle was hit and taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

During their investigation, police closed 51st Avenue in both directions from Glendale Avenue to Maryland Avenue and asked motorists to avoid the area during morning commuter hours.

Officers are still on scene and Arizona's family will keep us updated as soon as we learn more about the cause of the accident.
