Australian cricketer Will PucovskiThe promising career of has been ended due to health reasons. According to a report by Fox Sports quoting Nine's Tom Morris, the 26-year-old will end his career in cricket following the recommendation of a medical panel of experts.

Pucovski has had many head injuries throughout his career. The last concussion he suffered in March 2024 was very serious. These repeated injuries have been very damaging to his health. For this reason, he has made the difficult decision to leave the game.

Pucovski suffered more than just concussions. A medical evaluation in 2022 revealed that some of his head injuries were not true concussions, but rather stress or trauma reactions. This made it difficult for him to continue to perform at his best.

Pucovski had his first friendly match against India in January 2021. He showed great potential, but his career was repeatedly hampered by injuries, preventing him from fully exploiting his talent on the international stage.

“It is my understanding that an independent panel of experts recommended that Pucovski retire three months ago. Now Cricket Victoria and his team just need to formalise this contractually,” Morris told Nine News.

“The news does not surprise Pucovski's teammates as they have not seen him training throughout the pre-season as he has been travelling abroad.”

A look at his numbers tells us that in 36 first-class matches, Pucovski scored 2,350 runs at an average of 45.19 and seven hundreds.

He played his first and only Test match in 2020/21 against India in Sydney, where he scored 62 and 10. He is one of the few Australian international cricketers who has not played T20 cricket since the inception of the BBL, despite earning a contract with the Melbourne Stars in 2020/21.
