Man faces new murder charges in connection with death of woman found in Middletown trash can

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — A grand jury has handed down several new charges, some of which involve handling firearms, against a man accused of murdering a woman whose body was found in a Middletown trash can.

On August 20, police arrested 58-year-old Perry Hart on a charge of aggravated murder. However, on Thursday a grand jury brought additional charges against him, including violating firearm specifications.

The official cause of death of the woman, identified as 35-year-old Asiah Nicole Slone, has not yet been publicly released by the Butler County Coroner's Office. However, Middletown police told the Journal-News in July that the coroner's office told them the body appeared to have a bullet hole.

The charges against Hart, all capital crimes, include:

• Two counts of aggravated murder, each with the additional counts of carrying a firearm and being a “repeat offender.”
• One count of kidnapping, with additional precedents for carrying a firearm and being a “repeat offender of violence.”
• One count of murder, with the same details as the other counts.
• Two cases of possession of weapons despite disability

Slone's badly decomposed remains were found in the 1000 block of Centennial Street near Yankee Road around 11 a.m. on July 1. They were discovered by people searching for Slone, who his relatives said had been missing since June.
“I think I know where my sister's body is,” said a 911 caller who told dispatchers she was the sister of missing woman Asiah Slone. The caller wanted to speak to the detective investigating the missing person's case.

She and a friend drove through the alley and saw the garbage can in the bushes.

“I thought it was kind of strange. There's a skull in there. I can't tell if it's a real skull,” said the caller.
