Federal court date set for Sean Kingston and his mother in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. – Jamaican-American singer and rapper Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner appeared again in federal court on Thursday.

Mother and son did not flee from Local 10's cameras this time, but have not commented on the wire fraud charges against them.

The duo's first hearing took place on Thursday, and a trial date has since been set.

The trial of Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother is scheduled to begin on March 29, 2025.

At their arraignment earlier this week, the two pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges and requested a jury trial.

The two are accused of sending fake documents as proof of making electronic transfers and then confiscating items worth more than a million dollars, including cars, watches and electronics.

Federal prosecutors have until October 1 to review all evidence seized from Kingston's Southwest Ranches home in May.

One of the items seized was Turner's cell phone, which the defense is demanding be returned.

As Kingston and his mother left the courthouse on Thursday, they had no comment for us, but we spoke with one of their attorneys, Bob Rosenblatt.

“Nothing new. You know, the presumption of innocence still applies, and we look forward to reviewing the government's evidence and drawing some conclusions based on that,” he said.

While Thursday's hearing was devoted to their case in federal court, the two also face aggravated theft charges at the state level in connection with the five counts of wire fraud.
