A Delhi Police superintendent died suspected of a heart attack while dancing at the farewell party of the station house officer of Roop Nagar Police Station in north Delhi, an official said on Thursday.

According to police, police chief Ravi Kumar was originally from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, and had joined the Delhi Police in 2010. The Roop Nagar SHO was recently transferred and a farewell party was organised in his honour on Wednesday. Kumar suddenly fell while dancing at the party and complained of chest pain.

He was taken to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead, a police official said. Kumar had an angiography done about 45 days ago. He leaves behind his wife and two children, police said. A video of the party, taken minutes before the incident, surfaced on social media and shows Kumar dancing.
