Man injured in shooting involving deputy sheriff in Pasco County

A man was injured in a shooting involving a deputy in Pasco County on Thursday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials said officers with the United States Marshals Task Force were searching for a person wanted on a federal warrant. When they found the person, they attempted to pull him over, which led to a brief pursuit, but officers terminated it.

Officers later found the suspect in the River Ridge area. Authorities say officers were involved in the shooting while attempting to arrest the man.

The man, whose identity has been clarified, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to investigators.

Out of an abundance of caution, schools in the area have been temporarily placed on “controlled campus” status, PSO said. Officials are still investigating the shooting.
