Threat against Mark Zuckerberg in “Save America”

What happens on social media plays an important role in the US election campaign. In a book that will soon be published, Trump is now threatening to reveal his secrets to Facebook founder Zuckerberg.

Former US President Donald Trump has threatened Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg with “life in prison” if his social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, influence the US elections in the fall. This was reported by Politico and the Telegraph, among others, on Thursday.

The work, which was designed as a coffee table book, also includes an undated photo showing Trump and Zuckerberg in the White House. Below, the former president writes about Zuckerberg's visit to the White House: “He brought his very nice wife to dinner, was as nice as can be, all the while planning to install shameful 'lock boxes' – in a real plot against the president.”

Trump is referring to a donation of $400 million that Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan made during the 2020 election to finance election infrastructure – which the Republican sees as an impermissible influence on the election process.

According to the AP news agency, Trump also defends his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki in 2018 in the book. Among the numerous photos is said to be a picture of Trump's meeting with then-Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Zuckerberg recently announced that he would remain neutral in the current US election campaign. Unlike in 2020, he will not be making any donations this time. At the same time, the Meta boss sharply criticized incumbent President Joe Biden. In a letter to the US Congress, Zuckerberg accused the Biden administration of putting pressure on Zuckerberg's teams to censor certain content during the corona pandemic.

The relationship between Trump and Zuckerberg has been strained for some time: After the storming of the Capitol in January 2021, Facebook blocked Trump's account for two years. Trump himself announced on his “Truth Social” network in July that he would pursue election fraudsters on an unprecedented scale if he were to become president again.
