Madison Beer reveals why she doesn't take photos with fans in hotels

Madison Beer has decided to stop taking photos with fans in hotels.

The 25-year-old singer updated her fans on the new boundaries she is setting for herself in her Instagram stories on Wednesday, August 28, explaining that she was uncomfortable taking photos in hotels during her tour.

“Hellooo, I'm just coming here because I saw some people are confused as to why I don't allow photos etc in the hotels I stay in,” she captioned her now-deleted Instagram story.

Beer continued: “On tour, hotels are essentially my temporary home and I am entitled to some alone time like everyone else…”

“I also usually say no to photos etc. in my hotel because it also reveals the location to many other people and unfortunately I can be in danger,” she continued. “I hope you understand that and can respect that! Love you.”

The “Make You Mine” singer isn't the first artist to raise privacy concerns. Earlier this month, Chappell Roan (real name Kayleigh Amstutz) took to TikTok to explain that she was allowed to refuse to take photos with fans and that they weren't entitled to them due to her celebrity status.

“I don't care that abuse and harassment and stalking etc. towards famous or somewhat famous people is normal,” she said in a video.

“I don't care that it's normal. I don't care that this crazy behavior comes with the job, [or] the profession I have chosen. That doesn't make it okay. That doesn't make it normal. That doesn't mean I want it. That doesn't mean I like it.”

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer continued, “I don't want whatever you think you're entitled to when you see a celebrity. I don't give a f*** if you think it's selfish of me to say no to a photo or your time or a hug.”

“This is not normal. This is weird. It's weird how people think you know a person just because you see them online and listen to their art. This is fucking weird. I'm allowed to say no to creepy behavior,” the video ended.

Roan captioned the video, saying, “Don't assume this is directed against anyone or any particular encounter. This is just my side of the story and my feelings.”

The “Hot To Go!” singer also made another video on the platform in which she gives examples of situations she has experienced herself to get viewers thinking about whether or not they would want to experience them themselves. “If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window? Would you harass her in public?” she asked.

“Would you walk up to a random lady and ask, 'Can I take a picture with you?' And she says, 'No, what the hell?' And then you get mad at that random lady? Would you be insulted if she denied you your appointment because she has her own time?”

“Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her everywhere? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online?” she added. “This is a woman you don't know, and she doesn't know you at all. Would you assume she's a good person? Assume she's a bad person? Would you assume everything you read about her online is true?”
