Alabama woman allegedly killed and dismembered her husband

An Alabama woman charged with murdering her husband is accused of dismembering her husband after the killing.

Joselina Elizabeth Lopez, 26, is charged with the murder of Benito Morales Guzman. She is being held without bail in the Geneva County Jail pending an Aniah's Law hearing next week.

The investigation began when a co-worker of Guzman became concerned about his absence and notified the Geneva County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's investigators discovered Guzman's body behind the couple's home on Grady Garner Road in Slocomb on Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Tony Helms called in the State Bureau of Investigation to assist in the investigation.

Helms confirmed that Guzman was dismembered after his death to hide the body. He did not elaborate and said an autopsy would be performed Friday to confirm how Guzman was killed.

Charging documents against Lopez indicate that Guzman was killed sometime between August 24 and 27.
