Affinity Freedom 540: Unobtrusive van on the outside, mini-apartment on the inside

Under the Freedom brand, the Polish manufacturer Affinity has been giving the industry new impetus since the beginning of 2024. What this compact camper shows inside and out is something many interested parties have probably wanted for a long time. As with the new and equally long Pössl Roadcamp R, the price of the 2024 novelty is not getting out of hand!

Let's start with the deliberately unexciting exterior of the Freiheit. With a length of 5.40 meters, a width of 2.10 and a height of 2.64 meters, the camper is hardly longer than a typical station wagon, only wider and higher. Trips in the city, for example to go shopping, do not become a strenuous maneuver. Only entry into the underground car park is prohibited.

What is also interesting for many spontaneous holidaymakers is the fact that the Freedom 540 does not look like a mobile home from the outside. The discreet stickers can be removed and the uninformed may think that the Affinity model is a car belonging to a tradesman.

Looks like homemade inside

The interior of the new camper has a lot of charm and a very clever layout. It looks like it was painstakingly crafted by a passionate professional over the weekend and is reminiscent of the chic interior of the Caralife 630 LQ.

Real wood is used for the ceiling and work surfaces. Given the still affordable price, this is just as surprising as the fact that the 5.40 meter bus comes with a fully-fledged wet room that really deserves its name. Just like above the two-burner stove, a plastic “tile mirror” in the shower is an eye-catcher. However, something is lacking. The insulation is only 10 millimeters thick in the walls and 20 millimeters thick in the roof. The vehicle is therefore not really suitable for real winter camping.

The Freedom 540's other features include a 70-liter refrigerator, a 100-liter fresh water tank, a 120 Ah on-board battery and a Truma auxiliary heating system (gas). Sleeping is done in the rear on a pull-out double bed measuring 1.92 x 1.40 meters. Unusually, Affinity has dispensed with a passageway into the driver's cab in the Freedom.
