Pensioner arrested on suspicion of murder in Cheltenham | UK news

A pensioner was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman, police said.

Emergency services were called after reports of a woman suffering from serious injuries at a property on Fairfield Road, Cheltenham, at around 3.30am on Saturday.

Gloucestershire According to police, a 66-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 77-year-old man from Cheltenham was arrested and remains in police custody while investigations continue.

A police spokesman said: “Currently, a crime scene security team is in place at a property while police remain on site.

“Officers from the Serious Crime Investigation Team are still in the early stages of their investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward.”
