AFCON qualification 2025: Alexander Djiku out for matches in Angola and Niger due to injury

Ghana's defender Alexander Djiku will miss the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger due to injury.

The 30-year-old, who plays for Fenerbahce in the Turkish Süper Lig, had to limp off the pitch last night in the match against Alanyaspor after sustaining a thigh injury in the 61st minute.

Initial scans have shown that the player has sustained a grade I strain in the front part of his right thigh (quadriceps) and will require approximately 10 to 14 days to recover, rendering him unavailable for the qualifying matches.

Alexander Djiku was part of Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Djiku made his debut for Ghana in October 2020 and has since played 31 times for the Black Stars.
