Shreya Ghoshal postpones her concert in Kolkata: “Deeply saddened by the cruel and heinous incident”

Shreya Ghoshal has broken her silence on the Kolkata rape and murder case. West Bengal and the entire country have been in turmoil since the gruesome rape and murder of a doctor-in-training at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Citizens have taken to the streets in peaceful protests and candlelight marches to demand justice and swift action. Amidst all this, Shreya too has expressed her solidarity with the cause and decided to postpone her concert in the city.

Taking to social media, the Dola Re singer said that the thought of the brutality in this case makes her shudder. She also shared that the tour scheduled for September 14, 2024 has now been postponed to October. She added that despite the hype surrounding the concert, she decided to stand in solidarity with the people of the country.

Shreya’s statement

“It is with aching hearts and deep sadness that my promoters (Ishq FM) and I would like to postpone our concert 'Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour lshq FM Grand Concert', originally scheduled for September 14, 2024, to a new date in October 2024. This concert has been eagerly awaited by all of us but it is absolutely imperative for me to take a stand and join you all in solidarity. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women in this world, not just in our country (sic),” Shreya Ghoshal's statement read.

“I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to postpone this concert. Please stay with my band and me as we stand united against the demons of humanity. I ask for your patience while we announce a new date. Your current tickets will remain valid for the new date. I look forward to seeing you all. Love, prayers and hope, Shreya Ghoshal,” it continued.
