Revenue official arrested for bribery in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban – ThePrint –

Jammu, Aug 31 (PTI) – A revenue official was arrested after he was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Saturday, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said.

Farooq Ahmad, posted as Girdawar Sanasar, was in a fix after a person filed a complaint alleging that the official was demanding bribes for processing his case regarding a land certificate he needed for the sale of his land, the official said.

After receiving the complaint, he said, a discreet verification was carried out which confirmed the claim of the officer concerned. Accordingly, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at the ACB police station, Doda.

The bribe money was recovered from the Girdawar's possession in the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trapping team, he said, adding that further investigation was underway. PTI TAS TAS MNK MNK
