Six people sentenced to life imprisonment in double murder trial

Amroha: Six men were sentenced to life imprisonment from additional district and Judge Arvind Kumar Shukla on Friday in connection with a Double murder case from 2012. The court also imposed a total fine of Rs 660,000 on the convicts.
According to Nitin Bansal, deputy district government advisor, the incident took place on November 27, 2012, during the Kartik Purnima festival at Tigri Ganga Dham in Amroha, where hundreds of thousands of devotees gather every year. Among them was Sheeshpal Singh of Maghi village in Moradabad district, who had pitched a tent with his family.
Six people camped nearby: Gurdev Singh, Amarjit Singh, Kamal Singh, Virendra Singh, Arvind, all residents of Ghansoorpur in Amroha, and Jaivrit Singh of Chakmajidpur. Soon, a fight broke out between the two groups.
The six men are said to have then lured Sheeshpal's son Prince and his relative Navneet, both aged between 18 and 23, out of the camp under the pretext of taking a bath. The accused then poisoned them with alcohol and threw their bodies into the Ganges.
When Prince and Navneet did not return, their family confronted the accused, but he did not give any answers. Sheeshpal then filed a missing person complaint at Mela police station. The next day, the bodies were recovered from the river and an autopsy confirmed the presence of poison in their bodies.
After completing the investigation, the police, acting on the court's orders, filed charges against the six accused, charging them with murder and other related offences. All the accused were arrested and initially detained, but later released on bail.
