Two teenagers were shot and another was arrested Friday night after a Passaic County Tech football game in Wayne, prosecutors said.

A 16-year-old youth, whose identity remains unknown, has been charged with juvenile delinquency. If the suspect was an adult, this would amount to attempted murder. Two weapons offenses have also been charged, the Passaic County District Attorney's Office announced on Saturday morning.

The Passaic County Sheriff's Office, which had officers at the high school football game, found a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old both suffering from non-fatal gunshot wounds around 7:30 p.m., the district attorney said in a news release. Both were taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson.

The shooting, which occurred on Passaic Tech's athletic field on Reinhardt Road, occurred after the school's game against Lenape High School, a South Jersey team from Medford.

In a statement to CBS, a Lenape High School spokesperson said no students or school staff were involved or injured in the incident.

“Our thoughts are with those affected and the Passaic Technical Institute community,” Lenape HS said in the statement to CBS.

The District Attorney's Office is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Attorney's Office at 1-877-370-PCPO or [email protected].
