Boy on scooter swept away in Kalol, dies

Vadodara: A 17-year-old boy, who was riding a scooter despite not knowing how to ride properly, fell into a river late in the evening Kalol City in Panchmahal DistrictThe boy was trying to cross a river over a dam under construction.
According to the authorities, the dam is being built across the Goma River and is closed to traffic. The boy, Samir Kansara, who lives with his family in Kalol, had taken the scooter around 6 p.m. and was riding it on the road that connects the Kalol farm with the Golibar area.
He was making a turn on the embankment when he lost control and fell into the river which was in flood. An unknown person saw this and jumped in to save the boy. He could not reach Samir and later came out of the river safely.
Officials said Samir's father said he did not know how to properly ride a scooter. Samir was not found until Friday evening, although district administration and police officials rushed to the site to oversee the search for him.
